The challenge

What Fibre ISPs operators have to get right

A fibre ISP earns its revenue one connection at a time. Each subscriber needs a session that authenticates, a speed that matches the plan, a router that configures itself and an invoice that is right the first time. The network is built once, but those four things repeat for every new customer and every renewal.

This is where software decides the outcome. The billing system, the authentication server and the gateway must agree on what a subscriber has bought. Billing software for fibre ISPs also has to cover partners, complaints and installation work, because growth usually comes through franchises and depends on a support queue that keeps pace. i2iCore modules cover each step, and the core modules share records.

  • Keeping the plan and the session in step

When a customer renews, upgrades or lapses, the session on the network must change with it. If billing, authorisation and the gateway each hold their own view, speeds and access drift from what the subscriber pays for.

  • Turning up equipment without visits

Every new ONT or router needs the right WAN and Wi-Fi settings. Sending a technician to each installation is slow and costly, and configuring devices by hand invites mistakes that come back as complaints.

  • Growing through partners

Distributors and local partners bring in customers, take payments and expect commission that is correct. They need their own view of customers and balances without access to the operator's whole system.

  • Finding faults before the phone rings

A failed OLT or PON port hits many subscribers at once. Without knowing which customers sit behind it, support teams answer the same complaint repeatedly instead of fixing the cause.

The modules

How each module helps

Every operator starts with the AAA and CRM core. The rest are added as the network needs them. Each module has its own datasheet.

  • i2i AAAAccess & NetworkCore

Every PPPoE or IPoE session starts here. i2i AAA authenticates the subscriber, authorises access by plan and status and writes accounting straight into billing, so the plan someone buys decides what the network allows.

  • i2i CRMMonetisation & FinanceCore

Holds the plan catalogue, accounts, invoices and payments for prepaid and postpaid customers in one system. Renewals, bill runs and the partner's commission come from the same record.

  • i2i BNGAccess & Network

Runs PPPoE termination and carrier-grade NAT on standard x86 servers. It takes speed and policy from RADIUS and can change them on a live session, so a plan change applies without the customer reconnecting.

  • i2i ACSDevices & Assurance

Discovers ONTs and routers on first contact, registers them against the subscriber and configures them with workflows. Support staff can reboot, diagnose or upgrade a device from the console, one at a time or in bulk.

  • i2i NetPulseDevices & Assurance

Polls OLTs, switches and servers from an edge probe and shows which customers sit behind a failed OLT or PON port. Parent and child rules cut the flood of per-ONU alerts, so the team sees the cause.

  • i2i Partner PortalCustomers & Partners

Gives distributors, sub-distributors and LCOs their own portal to create customers, renew plans, top up wallets and review commission, working from the same billing records the operator uses.

  • i2i TicketingOperations & Field

Routes each complaint to a team with a target turnaround, tracks first response and resolution against SLA and escalates late tickets. Work orders for installations and repairs stay on the ticket's history.

  • i2i FieldOperations & Field

Covers staff who work outside the office. A staff mobile application registers customers and renews plans, and technician work orders are tracked from dispatch to completion. See the i2i Field page for what exists today.

FAQ

Fibre ISPs: frequently asked questions

Does i2iCore cover both PPPoE and IPoE subscribers?

i2i AAA authenticates and authorises sessions as a RADIUS server, and i2i BNG terminates PPPoE subscribers on standard x86 servers. Check the AAA and BNG pages for the exact access methods each supports, and talk to us about the way you deliver service before planning a rollout.

Can we bill prepaid and postpaid customers in one system?

Yes. i2i CRM keeps prepaid and postpaid plans in one catalogue, with base plans, add-ons, boosters and fair usage quotas. Postpaid customers are billed in bill runs that you can preview and roll back, and prepaid customers renew by wallet, voucher or payment.

How are ONTs and routers provisioned?

i2i ACS is a TR-069 server. Devices call in, are discovered and are registered against the subscriber in billing. Workflows then apply your WAN and Wi-Fi templates. It manages devices that speak TR-069, so confirm your ONT and router models with us first.

Does NetPulse open tickets automatically when a link fails?

No. NetPulse raises alerts and lists the customers behind a failed device, and it can send them to Telegram, email, WhatsApp or a webhook. Ticketing is a separate module and the two are not connected, so your team raises tickets from the alerts.

Can we use only some of the modules?

Yes. The modules are sold separately and you can start with the ones that solve your most urgent problem, often AAA and billing. Modules that share records, such as AAA and billing, work best together, and we can advise on the order that suits your network.
